Changes to this policy.
First Prebyterian Church of Mountain View Commitment to Web Accessibility.
At First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View, we are committed to ensuring that our digital presence is accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We believe that every member of our community, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the web, deserves a seamless online experience that reflects our values of inclusion and hospitality.
Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Accessibility
To ensure a high level of accessibility, we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as our standard. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities. As we add new pages and functionality to our website, all designs, code, and content entry practices are checked against these standards.
Website accessibility is an ongoing process. We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards.
Actions We Have Taken
Unlike many organizations that use automated overlays or widgets—which can often interfere with assistive technology— First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View has integrated accessibility directly into the core design of our website. Key features include:
High-Contrast Design: We have optimized our color palettes to ensure text is easily readable against its background.
Descriptive Alt Text: Every meaningful image on our site includes alternative text to ensure those using screen readers can understand the visual context of our mission.
Logical Navigation: Our site is structured to be navigable via keyboard and assistive devices.
Ongoing Compliance: Our site is built to meet current California state laws (Unruh Civil Rights Act) and federal ADA requirements as of 2026.
Feedback & Support
We view accessibility as an ongoing effort, and we are always working to improve. If you are experiencing difficulty with any content on our site or require assistance with any part of our website, please reach out to us. We are here to help, and will gladly assist you with any issues you may have.
